Death in service lump sum benefit

If you die in service the scheme will usually pay a lump sum benefit to nominees of your choice. (See the ‘Death in service’ amount under ‘Your pension now’ on your statement).

If you have nominated a representative or individual(s) to receive your death benefit lump sum, their details will be shown on your statement.

If you wish to make or change your nomination, please complete the appropriate death benefit nomination form under ‘Publications rules and forms’ and send it to your pensions administrator.  Please do not note the changes on the Reply form attached to your statement - your pensions administrator can only accept changes on the properly completed Nomination Form.

Important note! If you nominate your husband, wife or civil partner and you are divorced or your civil partnership is dissolved, your nomination becomes invalid. You must complete a new form after your divorce or dissolution if you still want your ex civil partner or husband or wife to receive the lump sum benefit.

classic plus, premium, nuvos members only – If you have selected more than 4 nominees, the statement shows your first four nominees only. Please contact your pensions administrator for full details.
