What happens if you are injured at work?
If you are injured or contract a disease in the course of your official
duties and lose earnings as a result, you may be eligible for injury
benefit. These payments are for loss of earnings only and are not
compensation for pain and suffering or loss of mental or physical ability.
They are designed to bring your income up to a guaranteed minimum amount.
Temporary awards are made if there is a chance you may return to full-time
work. Permanent awards are made if the amount you earn is permanently
affected. Under certain circumstances, your dependants may also receive an
award under the injury benefit arrangements.
